Are you in a reading slump and need a fresh story to get you out? This list of fantasy romance books are sure to help! From top-rated to under-rated, here is a list of nine fantasy romance books that you need to read!
Now, because the terms "romantasy" and "fantasy romance" can mean different things to different readers, I'll go a step further by saying that this list of books have varying ranges of spice levels and fantasy elements. All these books have fantasy, romance, and fresh adventure!
So, let's dive in!
Metal Slinger has a plot twist you'll never see coming. Think open-seas, betrayal, and romance that will have you begging for book two. Don't just take my word for it. Watch this review of Metal Slinger by @karly_rose_reads on Instagram!
If you want "spicy Casper" with a unique magic system and flirty banter, Vesselless is for you. This book has dark themes, an MMC who is half-ghost, and a cliff-hanger ending that will haunt you. Check out this review of Vesselless by @thtgrlreads on Instagram!
A re-imagined tale of Hercules with a throuple romance? YES PLEASE! Blood of Hercules not only had a steamy throuple (a praising professor, a dark merciless killer, and our main girl, Alexis) but this book has lines that had me laughing out loud. Total vibes read in the best way! Check out the TikTok review by @listenwithbritt!

Give me GOTHIC fantasy romance please. Anathema is witchy. It's creepy. The MMC is a dark, broody man that has a pet scorpion, a tolerance to truth serum, and he also has something pierced...if you know what I mean. Here is another review by @listenwithbritt over on TT. Check out her Anathema review!

If Fourth Wing had wolves...it might be called Dire Bound. I've heard people call this "the next big thing" and I hope it is. This book deserves all the hype! Check out the review of Dire Bound by @thtgrlreads!

The villain is hot. The villain is also a fae pirate. Need I say more? Didn't think so. Need a review to extra convince you? Watch @bannedfrombookclubs talk (yell?) about The Ever King! Here's the review on Instagram.

Some buzz words about this book: "Best romance." "Slow burn." "Best banter." "Enemies to lovers." If you want a true, delicious slow burn, look no further. Check out what @brittanyreads has to say about Spark of the Everflame in her review!

Tell me what's rare. A STAND ALONE ROMANTASY. Our Vicious Oaths is a spicy (extra spicy), enemies to lovers with morally gray characters. Check out what @caseygetsbooked says in her review of Our Vicious Oaths on Instagram!

Last on this list but definitely not least is We Who Will Die. This is on my TBR because everyone I've heard talking about this book says it's a god-tier book. Um, say less. This book releases Dec, 30th 2025. I shelfishly (yes, shelfishly) snagged this book early with my Allurial book box subscription. (I love Allurial!) No, Allurial does not pay me to say that. I have a feeling this book will be on my god-tier shelf too. Want a good teaser reel for this book? Thought so. Click here to get excited for We Who Will Die.
